Both PureVPN and VPN Unlimited have a lot to offer. Both take internet security very seriously and offer a range of features to protect your connection. PureVPN offers 256-bit encryption and tailored connection modes, while VPN Unlimited offers either 128-bit or 256-bit encryption, depending on your device. VPN Unlimited’s KeepSolid feature can bypass Netflix geo-restrictions and even create secure connections within China. PureVPN can also unblock Netflix through dedicated servers, but is unsuitable for use in China. PureVPN does have the greater number of servers and server locations, however. Both offer a kill switch and a host of tunneling protocols, although VPN Unlimited’s protocol options are device dependent. Both are also customizable and offer a range of additional features for experienced users. However, PureVPN offers split tunneling, port forwarding, and leak protection, all features that are not available with VPN Unlimited.

PureVPN (which recently purchased Ivacy) is a highly rated and affordable VPN, but it has had its share of controversies. A previous incident involving the FBI severely impacted its reputation. So, has it done enough to rebuild trust since then? To find out, my team and I investigated its privacy policy and everything else it offers. We tested its speeds, streaming performance, security featur...

An excellent value, all things considered

While they will absolutely throttle p2p in most servers, it's easy to find and log into the p2p server... s. They responded promptly when I had questions (although once it was basically to say "sorry, tough luck"). Overall though, I think I paid something like $20 for a year's subscription - I really can't complain. I'm sold on the service, although I think the fact that it's based out of HK is a bit spooky. 9/10More

Not Private! They cooperate with FBI! Application will NOT CLOSE (only minimizes)

PureVPN COOPERATES WITH FBI INVESTIGATIONS! You can verify this with any search! PureVPN REQUIRES ... USERS TO PROVIDE REAL NAME TO USE THE SERVICE! VPN Does NOT Support Close Application, Against Windows Standards! Close Actually Minimizes and it Keeps Running. Company refuses to change this back (used to operate correctly) A clear violation of your rights as owner of your PC.More

VPN Unlimited comes across as a very capable VPN, with its main focus being optimized streaming performance. I wanted to see if it delivered on this promise, and to test whether its security, privacy, and customer service stacks up against the best VPNs in the industry. While it certainly delivered on some of its assertions, unfortunately, it fell short in some essential areas. For example, i...

    Very Happy with Lifetime license

I picked up a lifetime license and honestly, it's been "solid". It delivers at good speeds, no leaks ... so far have been detected. Offers a wide range of streaming options & Protocols. I've contacted customer service several times and received replies quickly. The servers for P2p are limited to three locations but are still very functional. I'd appreciate a public audit of how secure the service is but it seems none of this info is published for customers, or potential customers to view.More

    Definitely honey pot

Stay away, none of streaming services mentioned works, support may be courteous but will not solve pro... blems. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and others may work for a while but eventually your data will be sold to requesting parties and you get blocked.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

The two VPNs are evenly matched in many respects. They both offer a range of features designed to help you stay safe and anonymous online. PureVPN has better customer service with 24/7 live chat. VPN Unlimited, however, abides by a strict no-logging policy, whereas PureVPN does keep partial logs. Both offer anonymous payment options, but PureVPN ultimately takes the lead with a longer money-back guarantee.

    Best VPN for Torrents

Both vendors support torrenting over dedicated P2P servers. Both also offer strong encryption to keep your connections safe while torrenting, but PureVPN’s additional DNS, IPv6, and WebRTC leak protection features push it slightly ahead in this category.

    Best VPN for Windows

PureVPN and VPN Unlimited both have dedicated apps for Windows. Both offer 256-bit encryption and the OpenVPN protocol, with the option of switching over to other tunneling protocols to customize your connection. PureVPN makes this process easier, however, by offering preconfigured connection modes.

    Best VPN for Android

VPN Unlimited and PureVPN both work on Android devices, with easy-to-use native apps. VPN Unlimited only offers an OpenVPN connection for Android, whereas PureVPN gives you multiple protocol options.

    Best VPN for Mac

VPN Unlimited only offers L2TP/IPSec and PPTP connections for Mac. PureVPN’s app for Mac is set to the more secure OpenVPN by default, and other tunneling protocols can be set up manually. PureVPN provides step-by-step guides that walk you through the process.

    Best VPN for iOS

PureVPN and VPN Unlimited both work on iOS and have user-friendly dedicated apps. VPN Unlimited only offers an L2TP/IPSec or PPTP connection, however. PureVPN connects through OpenVPN, but the app can be manually configured to connect through IPSec, L2TP, or IKEv2.

    Best VPN for USA

PureVPN and VPN Unlimited have similar numbers of US servers, including dedicated streaming servers. Both can access US Netflix from anywhere and can bypass geo-restrictions on many other American sites and services.

    The Bottom Line

Both PureVPN and VPN Unlimited offer a host of features, easy-to-use apps, great security, and a lot of possibilities for customization. In the end, PureVPN comes out ahead because of its longer money-back guarantee, more accessible customer service, and advanced security features such as split tunneling and leak protection. Nevertheless, if complete anonymity is your goal, the fact that PureVPN maintains some data logs might be reason enough to choose a different VPN.
