At first glance, you would expect that a relatively new and small provider like PrivateVPN has a slim chance against a long-running VPN service like Ivacy, which offers far more servers and a lot of attractive features. Upon digging deeper, however, it quickly becomes clear that PrivateVPN has a lot more to offer than meets the eye. True to its name, PrivateVPN has an edge over Ivacy when it comes to protecting your anonymity, thanks to a stricter no-logs policy. And even though Ivacy has a larger network of more than 1,000 servers in over 100 locations, PrivateVPN delivers significantly faster speeds and more stable connections with only 100+ servers in about 50 countries. Both VPNs provide solid encryption and advanced security features, including kill switches and IPv6 leak protection. Ivacy’s split tunneling lets you connect to some sites through the VPN and other sites or your local network through your normal IP address, which can be very handy if you multitask. PrivateVPN competes with a stealth mode that acts as an additional layer of encryption to overcome tough website blocks and censorship walls. Both providers give you smooth access to your favorite streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and the BBC iPlayer, even in China. P2P activities are also supported by both VPNs, although PrivateVPN’s higher speeds are attractive if you download large files. While both VPNs are budget-friendly and offer 30-day money-back guarantees, PrivateVPN gives you 6 simultaneous connections per subscription, whereas Ivacy allows you to use only 5 devices at once. However, Ivacy has excellent live chat support, whereas PrivateVPN offers only email support and a ticketing system. Let’s go deeper into a category-by-category comparison to find the real winner.

PrivateVPN advertises itself as one of the best VPNs for streaming at a low price. It also claims to have great torrenting support, strong security features, and a true no-logs policy. But PrivateVPN is a small company, so can it compete with the biggest VPNs? To learn the answer, I tested out everything it offers. My global team and I found out if it really lets you stream securely in the bes...

    Works Great for many years.

I've been using their service for a great many years, and I'm very pleased indeed. Great service and s... upport, and more than enough speed for covering my needs. As long as they have coverage in countries I need to connect to, the number of servers in total is less relevant, as long as the servers they Do have provide enough speeds. They also support Wireguard, which is seldom mentioned in these reviews, probably since they don't have it in their native app, but they do and it's rock solid using that with their provided config files, and that in and of itself also increases the connection speeds, at least for me. All in all, they provide anything and all I want from a VPN provider. What others see as a downside, split tunneling and such, I see as a strength. I want my VPN provider to stick their nose in my business as little as possible, but rather provide a "clean VPN line" and then let Me decide what to do with my routing table. In short, they're Great, for my needs, but others will have to test and make up their own minds. :-DMore

    Been There

I've been using PrivateVPN for a year. The main reason was due to good price. It's slow, on certain ho... urs of the day you can't watch video smoothly. They have down time or some other problem frequently and it take ages to fix it. Customer support are so poor that my mum without IT knowledge could probably do a better job. Now I switched to another one and feelings for PrivateVPN is much worse because I have something to compare withMore

Important. Ivacy VPN has merged with PureVPN, creating the new 'Ivacy Powered by PureVPN.' Existing Ivacy users won't lose any features as all clients have been automatically migrated to PureVPN. Ivacy is a long-running VPN with some of the cheapest subscriptions around. It also offers a popular free version and an extensive server network with many rare locations. But is it actually safe or trustw...

Not sure where all these negative thoughts come from.

Never had a problem connecting my desktop pooters with Ivacy. Had minor problem connecting my IOS devi... ce to my dedicated European IP but that was soon sorted. I daresay most of the negativity comes from the younger generation who have no patience. Staff at Ivacy who helped this 75yr old were awesome and ever helpful. Keep at it guys! I'd give them 9.5.More

    Terrible support

I was a customer 6 years ago. They still email me frequently, despite me unsubscribing many times and ... reaching out to their customer support 8+ times. If Ivacy can't get this right then I wouldn't trust any other promise that they make.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

PrivateVPN is a dependable, affordable, and log-free service with impressive reliability and speeds. PrivateVPN is also compatible with most devices, including routers, with easy-to-use, dedicated apps for all major operating systems. Meanwhile, Ivacy offers excellent privacy protection, but you might face connection and speed issues, especially if you try to stream videos in HD.

    Best VPN for Torrents

Ivacy supports torrenting on specific servers, while PrivateVPN supports torrenting openly across its entire network. More importantly, PrivateVPN delivers faster and more stable connections for smooth and quick downloading.

    Best VPN for Windows

Ivacy has a simple software client for Windows, but PrivateVPN’s user-friendly Windows app offers a wider variety of features in a more professional layout. Both apps come with important features such multi-protocol support, a kill switch, and IPv6 leak protection. However, PrivateVPN takes the lead based on overall performance.

    Best VPN for Android

With simple and thumb-friendly apps, both Ivacy and PrivateVPN make it easy for Android users to use the internet safely. Both apps offer advanced leak protection, which is crucial if you use unsecured networks. However, PrivateVPN’s Android app is more reliable and faster.

    Best VPN for Mac

The Mac VPN clients offered by both Ivacy and PrivateVPN are packed with valuable features, including OpenVPN support, built-in kill switches, and automatic server selection. Ivacy offers access to a larger range of server locations, but PrivateVPN once again delivers impressively high speeds.

    Best VPN for iOS

Ivacy and PrivateVPN have you covered when you use your Apple devices on unprotected public networks, as both providers offer excellent iOS apps. The apps support the IKEv2 and IPsec protocols, and give you access to an array of geoblocked websites and networks. However, PrivateVPN’s speed advantage makes it especially good for streaming.

    Best VPN for USA

Both Ivacy and PrivateVPN can easily break through US geoblocks to give you access to popular content like Netflix, Hulu, and HBO Go. Surprisingly, even though Ivacy has far more US servers, PrivateVPN is a better choice for buffer-free streaming, thanks to its high-speed connections.

    The Bottom Line

Even though both Ivacy and PrivateVPN offer feature-packed apps for a wide range of platforms, PrivateVPN takes the lead by delivering solid performance and fast connections, all at low cost. While many smaller VPNs lack the power you need to stream geo-restricted content, PrivateVPN proves that smart network management matters more than network size. This small wonder of a VPN is serious when it comes to protecting your online privacy, with sturdy encryption backed by many advanced security features. And if you’re new to VPNs, you’ll love PrivateVPN’s unique Team Viewer remote help feature, which enables you to work directly with a dedicated tech team to install and configure your VPN app. It’s no wonder that only the most elite VPNs like NordVPN pose a challenge to PrivateVPN in our comparisons.
