ExpressVPN, NordVPN, and VyprVPN — a clash of some of the highest-ranked vendors in the VPN industry. In terms of security, each provider uses military-grade AES 256-bit encryption, a variety of protocols, and robust security features. Each VPN is based in a privacy-friendly country and does an excellent job in keeping user data safe and protected. ExpressVPN is headquartered in the British Virgin Islands, Vypr’s base is in Switzerland, while NordVPN operates out of Panama.

With 3,000 servers in 105 countries, ExpressVPN leaves almost no place for competition regarding network coverage and reliability. It offers fast and consistent speeds and great unblocking capabilities — it works with every major streaming platform. NordVPN provides even more VPN servers (6,700), but they’re spread over 111 countries, which isn’t the greatest range we’ve seen. VyprVPN runs a bit smaller network of entirely owned and operated 700 servers across 70 countries, but it provides an impressive number of IP addresses, more than any VPN we’ve tested.

Each VPN offers helpful 24/7 live chat support and is compatible with all major platforms, as well as routers. Additionally, NordVPN offers 10 simultaneous connections, VyprVPN 5, and ExpressVPN 8. So let's find out which one takes the first place.

ExpressVPN is one of the most popular and trusted names in the industry. It’s known for being one of the safest, fastest VPNs around, so I wanted to see if it can live up to these claims. It’s not the cheapest VPN, but it often offers discounts that make it a better value for the money. Other decent VPNs offer similar features for less in the long term. So, do you really need to pay that much...

    Ok, but expensive

Seems ok, but I wouldn't say it's worth $20AUD a month. That's steep if you live in a backwater like A... ustralia, where the currency is not valuable. Easy enough to set up - you don't need to be Einstein - but unless you're a tech nerd who can take a look under the bonnet, you'll just have to trust what they say about their product. It frequently drops out without the slightest warning, often when it's the only thing online at the time - despite fast and flawless fiber internet, rendering expression entirely useless UNLESS you have it sitting on your desktop where you can keep an eagle eye on it to actually see it when it drops out so you can kick it back into service again (it doesn't do it by itself), which seems to defeat its purpose, so I'm taking away 2 stars for that. Support is good and they do get back to you as fast as they can.More

On the surface, NordVPN looks like a really impressive service. It claims to have a huge global server network, a speedy and reliable connection, and iron-clad security and privacy features. Plus, you can get it all for just $2.99/month. That all sounds great, but is there a catch? To find out, we did an in-depth analysis of NordVPN. The team and I tested its speeds and how well it performs whe...

    The Best of The Best

I simply tested all VPNs looking for cutting-edge online security, I tested the most expensive and the...  most talked about virtual anonymity, none made me as happy as NordVPN, it stands out for several reasons that the much more expensive ones it doesn't have, its double encryption, dedicated IPs, onion VPN, makes NordVPN unique, with almost 6,000 servers around the world and 12 million customers like me, you can see that NordVPN is not playing games with its customers and their online security , it always innovates to keep you more secure day after day, for a fair price in the long term and without sacrificing the speed of your connection, recently Nord is developing a new VPN protocol, Nordlynx a version still under construction derived from the Wireguard protocol, if you want to have a VPN of last security that think how it will make you more secure in the next month NordVPN is the right choice, I am completely thankful for being a customer and for finding what to me is the perfect VPN.More

    BUYER BEWARE!

BUYER BEWARE! If you purchase NordVPN, it will throttle your interned speed/connectivity by 50%, like ... it did to mine. I pay $100/month to get speeds of nearly 600mbs. With NordVPN turned on, my speeds decrease to 250mbs. Nord’s “customer support” is useless and unprofessional, and, after nearly 3 weeks of endless “try this, try that”, they were unable to resolve the issue and blamed it on everything under the sun except their product, when it is OBVIOUS that, since I have zero speed issues with Nord turned off, and ONLY experience the issues with Nord turned on, it is NordVPN that is causing the issue. When I asked them for a refund of my one year subscription paid in advance and in good faith, they refused, and have now decided to ignore me. So, YOU’VE BEEN WARNED. Their VPN will devastate your internet speeds, their “support” is ridiculous, they are in denial, and they will not refund your money, even if their product is a failure…More

VyprVPN has been one of the best providers in the game for years. But, its parent company, Golden Frog, was recently purchased by a US entity. With VyprVPN no longer under Swiss jurisdiction, is it still one of the leading providers? After extensive testing, I still rank VyprVPN as a top choice. Even though it’s owned by a US company, it has a proven privacy policy that shows it doesn’t lo...

    Chameleon is Amazing

I tried CyberGhost, Express, and Nord VPN over the last month. None of these were able to get by my in... stitution's Fortigate Firewall doing Deep Packet Inspection scanning. They are using some sort of Obfuscation technique but they were not good enough. I read about VyprVpn's Chameleon protocol. YES... It worked !!!! I do have to sacrifice speed but at least I get outside access. When I am out of that environment, I switch back to Wireguard and the speed increases 300%. The price is great, their Live chat was great when I questioned their own DNS servers. They were easy to reach with the chat and took the time to explain how their DNS servers worked. I highly recommend VyprVPN !!!More

    I don't have time to...

The company behind VyprVPN, Goldenfrog claims to have taken steps to improve its reliability, security... , and quality of service. I'm not sure when they said this, however, in 2022, reliability and QoS are going downhill quickly. I've been using Vypr for over a year with the software installed and executing on each PC. Everything worked relatively well until about three months ago when I began experiencing frequent and intermittent connectivity issues. Thinking that my 10-year-old router might be the cause, I installed a new TPLink router with all the latest technology After many hours of side-by-side testing with two computers on the same LAN, I have observed that a PC with the VPN turned off had 100% connectivity while a PC using Vypr had the issues. I have adjusted Vypr to use various protocols and TAP adaptors with no success in improving the QoS. As such, I'm convinced that my PCs and LAN are operating as they should. Further, from the beginning, I configured Vypr to always connect to a server in Canada. Every time I boot my PC I use "whatismyip.com" to make sure that the PC is operating through the Vypr. About half the time it connects to a server in the USA and yet the software says that it is connected to Canada. I use a couple of business online services with geolocation services that require a Canada connection so I also know when Vypr connects to the USA when I am blocked from logging in to one of the business services. IT's really annoying when the software says it's connected to Canada and yet it is not. The biggest annoyance is that I now find I have to check my external IP every time I boot a device. Why should I have to do this? I've used other VPNs and they just worked all the time. I never had to keep checking them to make sure they are working correctly. I've also done security testing to make sure there are no IP or DNS leaks or any other issues and it appears that Vypr lives up to its reputation of being secure. If the service would operate consistently so that I don't have to always check it or disconnect and reconnect to force a Canada server, I could give Vypr 5 stars. Overall it's not a bad service, however, if the QoS continues to degrade, I may be forced to go back to one of the other VPNs that I've used. I don't have time to "handhold" VyprVPN.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

Based on overall performance and convenience, ExpressVPN takes the lead in this closely contested battle of heavyweights. ExpressVPN offers specific servers for its users in China, along with obfuscation technology if you’re using its default protocol settings. The VPN also has unbeatable connection speeds and it's one of the most reliable for streaming.

    Best VPN for Torrents

ExpressVPN comes on top for torrenting as it has the fastest and most consistent download speeds of the three VPNs. Both ExpressVPN and VyprVPN support torrenting on all their servers, while NordVPN allows P2P activities only on servers optimized for that purpose. Additionally, ExpressVPN is the only VPN out of the three that supports port forwarding, but only on its router app.

    Best VPN for Windows

When it comes to speed and overall capabilities, ExpressVPN comes slightly ahead of NordVPN, and VyprVPN is in the third spot. The main reasons are that NordVPN's app can be a bit overwhelming for new users due to the customizability, and VyprVPN's Windows app lacks split tunneling. However, all three providers have user-friendly apps that are filled with features. Each VPN offers its own proprietary security protocol on Windows — ExpressVPN has Lightway, NordVPN has NordLynx, and VyprVPN has Chameleon.

    Best VPN for Android

ExpressVPN wins in terms of features and ease of use on Android, but all three apps are great. The only major difference between the user interfaces is that ExpressVPN and VyprVPN give you a list to choose a desired server, while NordVPN has a clickable map.

    Best VPN for Mac

All three VPNs are fast and ultra-reliable, but ExpressVPN comes forward with better connection speeds and more features. NordVPN has no split tunneling on Mac, and VyprVPN’s download speeds are no match for ExpressVPN, although it includes split tunneling.

    Best VPN for iOS

It's a close contest, but NordVPN comes out on top overall. Beyond its clean interface, NordVPN provides some extra features on iOS not available in ExpressVPN and VyprVPN, such as the Dark Web Monitor and double encryption. However, if those extras aren't crucial to you, all three VPNs are commendable choices, as they offer user-friendly iOS apps with robust security features.

    Best VPN for USA

ExpressVPN is the best option for the US. It covers 24 US locations (more than VyprVPN and NordVPN), and reliably unblocks most US streaming services. Plus, it comes with exceptional connection speeds. NordVPN isn’t far behind but sometimes can run into issues when trying to unblock certain platforms.

    The Bottom Line

VyprVPN, ExpressVPN, and NordVPN cater to all fundamental requirements. In our comprehensive review, each received high scores across various categories, and we cannot dismiss the utility of any of them. Although ExpressVPN is slightly more expensive per month, it offers the best experience and is likely to outperform the other two in China. VyprVPN ranks third, but its Chameleon technology provides a slight advantage. ExpressVPN emerges as the winner, albeit by a narrow margin; both NordVPN and VyprVPN are also excellent choices.
