    Which VPN is better?

CyberGhost and TorGuard are two similarly priced VPNs that pack some serious power. But which one pulls ahead? We’ll tell you all about it.

CyberGhost is a Romania-based VPN with a knack for regular updates, ease of use, and wonderful clients for desktop and mobile alike. Its privacy policy is expertly written, easy to understand, and the best part — no sensitive logs are kept. Its utility covers all needs, whether basic (fast, secure connections) or advanced (unblocking Netflix, bypassing the Great Firewall of China).

TorGuard doesn’t shine as much in the privacy department. While it’s completely leak-proof and doesn’t store data/connection logs, the US headquarters can be an issue for some. If you’re willing to look past that, you’ll find a lot of great features. The “Tor” in TorGuard is related to torrents, and this is where the VPN excels with plenty of P2P servers and excellent speeds.

Lastly, TorGuard comes with some great bundle plans, which can include a proxy and encrypted mail. CyberGhost offers a more well-rounded package without optional extras, and its 30-day money-back guarantee grants a significantly longer test period compared to TorGuard’s seven days.

They say you get what you pay for, but CyberGhost offers low prices and still claims to be one of the best. Subscriptions come as low as $2.03/month, so that much can’t be debated. But, can it really compete with its top-ranking competitors while charging so little? Over the course of several weeks, we put CyberGhost through an extensive evaluation. We analyzed its privacy policy, stress-test...

    Pretty good

CyberGhost does not connect automatically in pc when I connect online. Why? And on my phone (Android)...  it sometimes gets stuck, it does not open the app when vpn is working. I have to connect the VPN in my phone settings first. That is pretty annoying.More

TorGuard is an expensive service that focuses on keeping you safe while torrenting. However, it makes you jump through a lot of hoops to access its free trial, and the same is true for its refund policy. This really made me wonder whether this high-cost VPN is worth it. Overall, TorGuard is an okay VPN, but better alternatives are available. It offers excellent speeds and robust security featu...

    Love Torguard

I have used several VPNs over the years and got blocked by Netflix or Amazon, etc. I went with Torgua... rd and I did have to get a personal IP address at an additional cost. But anytime there is any issue, they are right there and helping. They may have to change your IP address, but they do what they promise. I switched to their annual plan and I don’t see anyone with a much better price than what I am paying. I also have a free email address that I don’t use much, but a few people have it, so I keep it and use it. I consider trying someone else once in a while but am afraid if I do that, if I’m not happy and come back to them, the price will be higher. I honestly, don’t see why they aren’t more highly recommended. Also, I find them very patient, as I am not so young and not always great with current technology. They have been great with me.More

    Does not work with firestick

Their VPN does not work with 1st gen firesticks. They did not post this on their site. I paid $60 for ... a 1-year membership. After 7 days got a notice from Spectrum 18 complaints "Notice of Copyright Infringement" emails from the spectrum. Contact billing for refund, they gave me the runaround and kept asking the same questions over and over again. Then told me a refund is not available after 7 days. However, it takes spectrum over 7 days to send a complaint and they never said it didn't work with 1st gen firestick. Also, the app connected to vpn through the firestick and never said it had an issue. So this company is scamming, do not use it if you want to get a "Notice of Copyright Infringement" letter from Spectrum and no refund.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

CyberGhost’s mix of simplicity and great features makes it a favorite for the no-nonsense user. TorGuard can be vastly improved with optional add-ons like a dedicated IP, but in many cases the extras end up costing as much as the VPN itself.

    Best VPN for Torrents

TorGuard offers more diversity in P2P servers, while speed is remarkable and consistent. However, port forwarding isn’t included in the package — you’ll have to pay extra for it. CyberGhost doesn't offer port forwarding, but does allow P2P.

    Best VPN for Windows

CyberGhost sets new standards in VPN interfaces with its premade, multi-purpose profiles for easy encryption and unblocking. It also has a kill switch, DNS leak protection, and stealth protocols for heavy censorship. TorGuard is also feature-packed and simple enough to use, but doesn’t stand out with anything unique.

    Best VPN for Android

CyberGhost has a lot to offer Android users, thanks to its innovative app that has as much muscle as its desktop clients. TorGuard is a decent alternative — its Android client is streamlined, optimized, and quick to give you the security you need.

    Best VPN for Mac

CyberGhost retains a lot of its functionality on Mac, along with all the plug-and-play profiles that make this VPN so popular. TorGuard isn’t too shabby either, with a sleek and straightforward Mac client.

    Best VPN for iOS

CyberGhost’s iOS app is as great as the Android one, and the seven simultaneous connections give multiple-device users a lot of room. TorGuard, on the other hand, allows just five devices at the same time — extra connections are possible, but you’ll have to pay for them.

    Best VPN for USA

CyberGhost has hundreds of servers in the United States, and a dedicated unblocking profile for restricted US streams and services like Netflix. TorGuard can also get past the geoblocks, but reliable access requires a dedicated IP, which costs a pretty penny.

    The Bottom Line

CyberGhost, given its cost, delivers effectively on all crucial features — robust encryption, protocol diversity, an expansive server network, and all the functionality expected from a premium VPN. It's a strong option for anything from an additional security layer to boundless entertainment without geoblocking. TorGuard presents a satisfactory basic package, but its bundled plan — which increases the cost — is where the real worth lies. The final conclusion: for those seeking reliability and immediate usability, CyberGhost is the go-to VPN. However, if you can allocate a larger budget for a service replete with excellent optional add-ons, TorGuard is a commendable choice.
