Astrill VPN is one of the most popular VPNs to use in China. But it's also one of the most expensive VPNs available and doesn't have a money-back guarantee. With such a big investment, is it still the best VPN for China, and should you try it if you're located elsewhere? After my tests, I can confirm it's an excellent VPN for China but falls short in other areas. It offers slow speeds and clunky a...

Been using it for a long time.. but have to go

I have been using Astrill for more than 10 years. Never had a problem. A couple of times I used the ch... at for support and it was excellent. However this is probably going to be my last year. Reason .... price. With the virus crisis I am unemployed and can not afford it. They do not give any kind of discount and keep raising the price year after year. I am not in China so I suspend it, I do not need all those features.More

Don’t even think of it if you own Apple products

Worst VPN ever. Unreliable, unstable. It’s utterly expensive. Forget about streaming. Apple products a... re almost useless with it. Technical support team answers are pretty much like “Why don’t you turn it off and on?”. Please don’t waste your money as I did. They don’t even have a refund policy!More

VPNSecure looks good on paper, but does it deliver? Finding a VPN that performs well in all fields isn’t an easy task. We took it for a test run to see whether this provider can keep you as secure as its name implies. Founded back in 2010 in Sydney, NSW, VPN Secure offers solid security features with a seemingly airtight no-log policy. According to its customer support, it should even ...

    Great VPN

I like it. Have had it for 3 years. I bought the lifetime subscription when that was around because Sp... ectrum sent me a letter warning me about "illegal activities" when I used torrent. The speed is actually pretty good because I could play CSGO and watch Youtube without lag or buffer. Overall I'd recommend this VPN.More

    Was great, but...

Performance is still good - IF you can connect. Many of the US servers simple don't work for me in Eu... rope. But after some trial and error, I found one. "Untied Sates + Ad Blocker" Their support used to be really, really GREAT. Now there is none. At all! I tried submitting a ticket from the app - several times. Then I tried sending a message to support on the site. NADA! NOTHING! ZIP!More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

Astrill offers a very reliable service with numerous security features as well as a decent-sized server network that reliably bypasses geoblocks worldwide. VPNSecure is also a fairly reliable VPN service that combines the benefits of a VPN and DNS service. VPNSecure’s cross-platform apps are easy to understand and use.

    Best VPN for Torrents

Astrill is a reliable provider for torrents, as it offers dedicated P2P servers that allow you to torrent anonymously at high speed. VPNSecure also allows torrenting on most of its servers, but may fall short of Astrill in download speed.

    Best VPN for Windows

Astrill provides an efficient service for Windows that gives you access to features like split tunneling and a very intuitive interface. One of the best features of VPNSecure’s service for Windows is that it offers two dedicated apps: one for older versions, and another for versions after Windows 10. The more recent version includes additional security features such as a Stealth VPN protocol.

    Best VPN for Android

The strength of Astrill VPN’s service for Android is its dedicated app featuring a Smart Mode, which allows you to decide which specific apps should connect via the VPN tunnel. Meanwhile, VPNSecure’s dedicated app for Android offers multiple security features, including the HTTP and SSH protocols.

    Best VPN for Mac

Astrill provides a very secure VPN for MacOS users that includes strong encryption, a Stealth protocol, an internet-based kill switch, and split tunneling. With VPNSecure, you can rely on the provider’s MacOS app to give you access to its entire network of servers in 47 countries along with a built-in smart DNS service.

    Best VPN for iOS

Astrill VPN is our recommended choice for iOS users, as it offers a dedicated app with strong encryption, split tunneling, and a kill switch. Meanwhile, VPNSecure provides an iOS app with a built-in DNS for bypassing tough geoblocks and security features like wi-fi protection and a Stealth VPN protocol.

    Best VPN for USA

Astrill reliably unblocks Netflix-US with its dedicated US servers. A specialized streaming feature gives you access to optimized servers for watching geo-restricted American content from any location worldwide. VPNSecure competes by using Smart DNS and obfuscation technology to unblock US Netflix and similar websites.

    The Bottom Line

Although VPNSecure provides an admirable service, Astrill wins this contest by providing more security features, more comprehensive customer support, and a larger server network. Innovative features like split tunneling, along with the availability of a 7-day free trial, also help to push Astrill into the lead. However, this was a close competition and good VPN providers constantly improve their services. It will be interesting to see how VPNSecure responds to Astrill’s challenge in the future.
