IPVanish offers high-speed connections and an impressive list of advanced security features at a budget-friendly price. Over the years I’ve been working with this VPN, it’s continued to stand out as a reliable option for several different use cases. My team and I carefully studied its privacy policy and tested its speeds, security features, and streaming capabilities. We also looked into i...

    Very, very satisfied

I am into my third year of using IPVanish. I am extremely happy with the speed, reliability, features ... and reliability. The fact that I have used it for this long without trying the competition speaks volumes. I am never going to try anything else because I am completely happy with what I have. Why risk it?More

Misleading, false advertising, don't honor guarantee. BEWARE

IP address and region not effectively blocked on most sites. Streaming sites do NOT work with their se... rvices, but they do not disclose that anywhere on their website. The support team had no idea in terms of technical knowledge. They claim that their 30-day guarantee is unconditional and there is no risk, but they have so many exclusions buried in their fine print that the average user would have huge difficulty finding. They advertise on many streaming how-to websites where they KNOW their services do not work. COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY. If I could give less than one star I would. SO unethical.More

Astrill VPN is one of the most popular VPNs to use in China. But it's also one of the most expensive VPNs available and doesn't have a money-back guarantee. With such a big investment, is it still the best VPN for China, and should you try it if you're located elsewhere? After my tests, I can confirm it's an excellent VPN for China but falls short in other areas. It offers slow speeds and clunky a...

Been using it for a long time.. but have to go

I have been using Astrill for more than 10 years. Never had a problem. A couple of times I used the ch... at for support and it was excellent. However this is probably going to be my last year. Reason .... price. With the virus crisis I am unemployed and can not afford it. They do not give any kind of discount and keep raising the price year after year. I am not in China so I suspend it, I do not need all those features.More

Don’t even think of it if you own Apple products

Worst VPN ever. Unreliable, unstable. It’s utterly expensive. Forget about streaming. Apple products a... re almost useless with it. Technical support team answers are pretty much like “Why don’t you turn it off and on?”. Please don’t waste your money as I did. They don’t even have a refund policy!More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

IPVanish takes the overall VPN prize by offering more affordable subscription plans, faster server connections, and more responsive 24/7 live chat support. However, Astrill VPN also offers a solid service, with intuitive, easy-to-use apps.

    Best VPN for Torrents

IPVanish offers very fast servers for torrenting and places no restrictions on P2P file sharing. If you’re not super concerned about speed, however, Astrill VPN also supports torrenting anonymously on its servers.

    Best VPN for Windows

With access to 40,000 shared IPs and IPv6 leak protection, IPVanish offers a very secure VPN for Windows in its dedicated app. Astrill VPN also supports a dedicated Windows client that features an automatic kill switch that prevents selected apps from connecting to the internet if your server connection drops.

    Best VPN for Android

IPVanish for Android devices features an OpenVPN scrambler for bypassing firewalls and allows users to connect to over 1,000 servers in more than 60 countries. Meanwhile, Astrill VPN has a beautifully designed Android app with a Smart Mode that only routes your international web traffic through the VPN tunnel.

    Best VPN for Mac

IPVanish for MacOS is very robust and features automatic IP switching at timed intervals along with API load balancing, which automatically selects the best server based on your location. Astrill VPN also has a MacOS app with OpenWeb and StealthVPN protocols that enable it to bypass geoblocks worldwide.

    Best VPN for iOS

If you need an iOS VPN with WiFi protection and SSID blacklisting, IPVanish’s dedicated app will serve you well. Astrill VPN’s iOS app, on the other hand, automatically reconnects whenever the app experiences a timeout, even in the background.

    Best VPN for USA

IPVanish is renowned for unblocking Netflix and bypassing geoblocks from a host of other US-based sites. Its servers are also faster overall than Astrill VPN’s, making it a more reliable VPN for the USA. Interestingly, Astrill VPN also has reliable servers capable of unblocking Netflix; it only comes up short with regard to speed.

    The Bottom Line

Considering all the features analyzed above, it’s not so hard to see why IPVanish is the winner of this comparison. With faster servers, a larger VPN network, and more responsive 24/7 live support, IPVanish provides a service that’s well ahead of Astrill at this time. Although both offer user-friendly and intuitive apps, IPVanish offers more features and greater user control, including the ability to choose between multiple VPN protocols.

All that being said, there is still a higher tier of VPN performance, occupied by the likes of NordVPN and CyberGhost, that IPVanish has not yet reached.
