VPN Master Pro Review 2024 — Read This Before Buying

VPN Master Pro claims to be a safe service with millions of customers around the world. It offers tons of servers, which it says have fast, reliable connections and unlimited bandwidth. But the website doesn’t tell you much else, so can this VPN be trusted?

To find out, I tested all of VPN Master Pro’s features. I found out if it’s really secure and studied its privacy policy to see if it’s trustworthy. Plus, I tested its speeds, streaming abilities, and much more.

These tests showed me that VPN Master Pro is not a service I can recommend. It logs a lot of your data, and it’s missing a major security feature. On top of that, desktop apps are inferior compared to the ones for mobile devices. I could unblock a good amount of platforms and stream in high quality on Android. However, you can't access the premium app on desktop. Even worse, the free version on desktop is inferior compared to what you get for free on mobile.

While I had no issues playing videos without lag on my phone, there were issues casting to my smart TV with certain apps. I had no problem accessing Netflix originals on Android but could only get full Netflix libraries with the desktop app. You're usually restricted to only Netflix originals when living in an area that doesn't have its own library. Meaning you can only access the movies and shows Netflix owns, so you miss out on a lot of content. I could access entire libraries from Canada and the US on my Windows laptop.

VPN Master Pro lets me cast (a way to play videos from your device on a smart TV) Netflix after about 15 seconds of loading. After that, the videos played back in HD without buffering. I was surprised that many times the free servers worked better. For example, the premium Japanese server wouldn't let me sign in, but it worked fine with the free server in Japan.

Disney+ worked great on every server I tested, including free ones. I had no trouble casting to my tv with excellent playback and zero buffering. HBO Max only worked with the free server in New York. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to cast. The screen would load briefly but only show me an HBO Max logo instead of streaming video.

Amazon Prime Video worked well too, but I couldn't cast. This was the same on free and premium servers. When I tried sending Jurassic Park: Dominion to the TV, the screen casting loading screen came up. But it just continued to load for minutes without ever playing the movie. I was excited it let me access Prime Video, but it would be more impressive if you could cast.

I could only access BBC iPlayer from the free server in London. With that server, it worked great. I could load videos nearly instantly and stream in HD. However, accessing it with the UK's VIP server was impossible because it wouldn't let me connect to the internet.

Hulu detected the VPN on both free and premium servers. I was able to access the login screen, but once I entered my password, I got a message telling me you can’t access the site with a VPN.

Overall, the free version of VPN Master Pro on mobile is pretty impressive for streaming, but the premium app isn’t worth it. This is because the free mobile app unblocked more platforms than the paid version, and there’s no data limit.

However, it still had issues casting. The best VPNs will let you easily access all the top platforms on your smart TV. They even let you do it directly, so you don’t have to worry about casting. On top of that, you can access many more full Netflix libraries with the top VPNs. The speeds varied a lot depending on the server, and sometimes the free ones were faster. These speed tests were done with a Samsung Galaxy S21 Android phone.

These are the categories I looked at during my tests:

• Download speed is how quickly you can receive data. You need this to be fast for activities like streaming and loading web pages. It’s measured in megabits per second (Mbps).
• Upload speed tells you how long it takes to send data. This will help you quickly upload videos on YouTube or post on social media. It’s also measured in megabits per second (Mbps).
• Ping lets you know how long it takes your data to travel. It’s most important for gaming where you need instant reactions to your inputs. This is measured in milliseconds (ms).

After I recorded my base speed for a comparison, I performed tests on the VIP servers.

Speeds on paid servers:

I was surprised that the fastest paid server was over 8,000 km away. The closest server to me in Los Angeles dropped my speeds a ton. The top VPNs will only drop my speeds by 10-15% at that distance. After that, I tested out the free servers.

Speeds on free servers:

Overall, I was more impressed with the speeds on free servers. The nearby Los Angeles server gave me great speeds. The free Netherlands server was a little faster. While it was a bit slower in some areas, it’s still really good for a free VPN.

While I got some good results, the speeds were inconsistent. For example, the German servers were always slower than the ones in the Netherlands. That’s strange since they’re so close to each other. The top VPNs only drop my speeds by 30-40% at long-distances, so the speeds on the German server are quite slow.

I also tested the free app on Windows. The speeds were much worse with the desktop app. Every desktop server lowered my speeds by at least 98%.

I had a ton of lag when I played fast-paced games online with VPN Master Pro. You need a ping rate between 50-85 ms for smooth gameplay online. When it’s higher, it takes too long for the game to register what you want to do. When that happens, you can’t enjoy the game because you can’t be competitive.

My first test was playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. To start, it took the game nearly a minute to load. When I finally got going, the game warned me that the ping was too high while I was trying to join a match. My first attempt failed, but I was able to get in on the next try. Once the game started, the lag was so bad the screen kept freezing. Eventually, I got a weird glitch where the screen kept flashing black, and I fell through the floor.

I was able to play Vampire Survivors on my phone with no issues. But this test isn’t as important since most people play competitive online games on a desktop or gaming console. So, VPN Master Pro will be a poor choice for most gamers. If you want to stay safe while you play games on all your devices, try one of the best VPNs for gaming.

VPN Master Pro paid mobile version has 6,000 servers, but they are only in 17 countries. That’s much less than the top VPNs, which will often give you 3x as many or more. This could cause problems if you want to use a location in your country since many people won’t be able to.

The free app on mobile has all the same countries except it offers Australia instead of India. There are twice as many countries on the desktop app (about 44), but it’s so much worse it doesn’t really matter.

All of these servers are virtual locations, and that’s probably why my speeds were so inconsistent. Virtual servers give you an IP address in the country listed, but are actually somewhere else. That means they may be farther away than you think, which lowers your speeds. While there’s nothing wrong with virtual servers, the top VPNs give you physical locations too.

You can get way more servers from all around the world with a better VPN for the same price. So, I recommend you choose a VPN with thousands of reliable servers worldwide.

VPN Master Pro passed all of my leak tests, but it’s not clear about its encryption levels. I tested free and paid servers on mobile and several desktop servers. My real location was never revealed, which is good. But the top VPNs give you 256-bit military-grade encryption. This is practically impossible to crack. Since VPN Master Pro doesn’t list its encryption level, and support never answered my questions, I can’t be sure what kind of encryption it uses.

There is also a split tunneling feature on mobile, called Select Proxy Apps. So, you can leave certain apps out of the VPN tunnel. This is easy to do since it automatically selects everything. If you want to access your local bank with the VPN connected, you can just unselect your browser from the list. It’s a nice feature to have, but I wish VPN Master Pro offered more.

For example, there is no kill switch. This is a necessary feature that every VPN needs. It blocks your internet connection if the server ever disconnects, so you’re always protected. You also can’t switch protocols, and VPN Master Pro doesn’t tell you which protocol it uses. The best VPNs make it easy to switch between different protocols that help you optimize speed, security, network switching, and more.

VPN Master Pro logs a lot of data, including your IP address. It also stores your device name, operating system, and the time and date when you used the app. Worse, it also stores “other statistics.” Vague statements like that in a policy worry me because it could mean anything. It’s possible VPN Master Pro could even be logging the websites you visit. I learned all of this from the privacy policy available on the mobile app.

It states it can give your data to companies like Google and Facebook

It doesn’t tell you how long it stores this data and can’t guarantee its safety. So, not only do they have your vital information, but it’s possible a hacker or anyone else could get a hold of it. The other thing that concerns me is the privacy policy is completely different on its website.

I’ve never seen a VPN with two completely different privacy policies

The website says there have been security audits, but that doesn’t help when the policy is so bad. Many of the top VPNs have independent audits done on their privacy policies, which proves they stick to them. In this case, it might be better if VPN Master Pro didn’t stick to its policy. Lastly, it's based in the US. This country is a member of the 5-Eyes Alliance, an agreement between governments to share citizens’ data. So, it could be forced to log even more data in the future.

VPN Master Pro’s security and privacy issues make it a bad choice for torrenting. It lets you access torrenting sites and download files with popular torrenting apps like uTorrent. I was even able to download Night of the Living Dead with the premium New York server in about 14 minutes (it wouldn’t work with the free servers). That’s a good speed since my base connection was only a little faster. I can download the same file in 10 minutes with no VPN.

However, I don’t recommend accessing torrents with a VPN you can’t trust. Although torrenting is legal in most countries, it’s illegal to access copyrighted files. So, I recommend making sure you only download legal torrents. Plus, you never know who’s on the same P2P network as you. Does VPN Master Pro Work in China? No

I couldn't confirm with support if VPN Master Pro works in China, so I have to assume it doesn’t. I recommend reading up on Chinese laws before you decide to use a VPN while there. The country’s government has banned several VPNs, but it usually only goes after the technology. China’s government isn’t known for getting tourists in trouble for using VPNs.
